CPHI Udayana University Organizes Writing Clinic to Strengthen Researchers’ Scientific Publication Capacity

Denpasar, July 3, 2026 – The Center of Excellence for Science and Technology in Higher Education (PUI-PT) Center for Public Health Innovation (CPHI), Udayana University, reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening scientific publication capacity through the Manuscript Development Bootcamp: From Draft to Journal Submission. Held at Four Star by Trans Hotel, Denpasar, the program brought together intermediate and advanced researchers, as well as lecturers who are currently preparing manuscripts for publication in reputable scientific journals.

Scientific publication is a key indicator of research excellence and plays a crucial role in enhancing an institution's academic reputation. However, publishing in reputable journals remains a significant challenge for many researchers, from identifying research gaps and formulating research novelty to developing strong Results and Discussion sections, selecting appropriate target journals, and navigating the peer review process. To address these challenges, CPHI organized this Writing Clinic, combining conceptual reinforcement with hands-on mentoring based on participants' own manuscripts.

The event commenced with opening remarks from the Head of PUI-PT CPHI and a representative of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Udayana University. In their remarks, they emphasized that improving the quality of scientific publications is a strategic priority for CPHI as a Center of Excellence for Science and Technology in Higher Education (PUI-PT), contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge and evidence-based health systems.

The Writing Clinic featured two distinguished speakers with extensive experience in international scientific publishing: dr. Luh Putu Lila Wulandari, Ph.D. and Jerico Franciscus Pardosi, Ph.D.

During the first and second sessions, dr. Luh Putu Lila Wulandari, Ph.D. discussed strategies for identifying the state of the art, formulating research gaps, establishing research novelty, and developing well-structured Introduction, Results, and Discussion sections that build strong and systematic scientific arguments. Participants also engaged in interactive discussions using real manuscript examples to strengthen the quality of their ongoing research papers.

The third and fourth sessions were led by Jerico Franciscus Pardosi, Ph.D., who shared practical strategies for selecting appropriate target journals based on research scope, understanding the characteristics of reputable journals, and minimizing the risk of desk rejection. Participants also gained valuable insights into the peer review process, effective techniques for preparing responses to reviewers, manuscript revision strategies, and real-case discussions based on participants' own manuscripts.

Through its interactive and practice-oriented approach, the Writing Clinic provided participants not only with conceptual knowledge but also with valuable opportunities to discuss the challenges they encounter throughout the writing and publication process. Personalized mentoring based on participants' manuscripts enabled them to receive constructive feedback tailored to their specific needs, thereby improving the readiness of their manuscripts for journal submission.

As a Center of Excellence for Science and Technology in Higher Education (PUI-PT), CPHI Udayana University remains committed to fostering a strong research ecosystem through various capacity-building initiatives for researchers. Through this Writing Clinic, CPHI hopes to encourage the publication of more high-quality scientific papers in reputable journals and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of science, public policy, and health systems in Indonesia and beyond.

This program is expected to serve as the foundation for sustained collaboration in strengthening the culture of scientific publication within Udayana University and across CPHI's network of partners, ultimately ensuring that research findings generate broader impacts for society.
