CPHI Udayana University Hosts International Grant Writing & Management Masterclass to Strengthen Capacity for International Funding

Denpasar – On 4 September 2026, the Center for Public Health Innovation (CPHI), Udayana University, organized “FUND YOUR RESEARCH: International Grant Writing & Management Masterclass” as part of efforts to strengthen participants’ capacity to develop competitive, strategic, and impact-oriented international grant proposals.

The activity was organized by PUI-PT CPHI Udayana University in collaboration with PIKAT Learning Center and the Psychology Study Program, Udayana University. In addition to serving as a capacity-building platform, the masterclass was designed to bring together academics, clinicians, researchers, and partners to build networks and open opportunities for research collaboration.

The masterclass featured Aang Sutrisna, MPH from the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) as one of the speakers. During the session, participants gained insights and practical perspectives on proposal development strategies, the grant bidding process, and the importance of building the right partnerships to improve opportunities for securing international funding.

The event also featured Dr. Daniel, M.Sc. from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), who shared academic perspectives and experiences in research and collaboration. The discussion covered how researchers can strengthen proposals while also developing research networks that support collaboration and sustainable research development.

Through the sessions with the speakers, participants not only gained an understanding of the technical aspects of grant writing and grant management, but were also encouraged to view research funding as part of a broader process. Developing research ideas, preparing strong proposals, building networks, and establishing strategic partnerships are interconnected components in advancing competitive and impactful research.

More than just a capacity-building activity, the International Grant Writing & Management Masterclass served as a platform that brought together participants from diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise. Interaction among academics, clinicians, researchers, and partners is expected to open new opportunities for collaboration and serve as an initial step toward exploring the potential formation of a research consortium.

Building networks and consortia is an important aspect of expanding opportunities for interdisciplinary and inter-institutional research. Through such collaboration, research ideas can be developed from broader perspectives, supported by complementary capacities, and designed to generate greater impact.

Through this activity, PUI-PT CPHI Udayana University continues to promote stronger capacity and research networks to improve competitiveness in accessing international funding opportunities. Collaboration with PIKAT Learning Center and the Psychology Study Program, Udayana University, also forms part of the effort to build a research ecosystem that is increasingly collaborative and impact-oriented.
