CPHI Udayana University Strengthens Its Service Business Unit and Innovation Utilization Ecosystem through the Development of Survey and Consulting Services

Denpasar – The Center for Public Health Innovation (CPHI), Udayana University, conducted an activity on Strengthening the Service Business Unit and Innovation Utilization Ecosystem of the University Center of Excellence (PUI-PT) on Tuesday, 18 August 2026. The activity was held in a hybrid format, with the in-person session taking place at PUI-PT CPHI Udayana University, LPPM Building, Udayana University.

This activity was part of CPHI’s efforts to develop and strengthen evidence-based service business units, particularly the Public Health Survey & Consulting Services Unit. Strengthening this service unit is a strategic step toward translating CPHI’s expertise and research outputs into structured, high-quality services that can provide broader benefits to various stakeholders.

The meeting involved CPHI leadership, consultants, researchers, service unit coordinators, and operational support staff. The activity began with an opening session and an introduction to the direction of CPHI’s service business unit development, followed by a presentation on existing and potential survey and consulting services.

Through an internal Focus Group Discussion (FGD), CPHI consultants and researchers jointly identified and agreed on additional services that could be developed as part of CPHI’s service portfolio. These included various areas of public health surveys, such as behavioral and behavioral determinant surveys, epidemiological surveys, environmental and WASH surveys, health service surveys, and employee health surveys.

The discussion also focused on developing a more structured service catalogue, including service descriptions, value propositions, service packages, and initial pricing components. In addition, strengthening the business unit also involved standardizing the overall service process, from receiving inquiries and defining the scope of work, preparing proposals, implementing activities, conducting quality assurance, to reporting and documenting results.

In the following session, Dr. Trihono from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia delivered a presentation on Community Satisfaction Surveys and their relevance to Primary Care Integration (Integrasi Layanan Primer/ILP). The presentation contributed to strengthening the team’s understanding of how survey and consulting services can be developed in line with the needs of the health system and health service delivery.

The activity continued with discussions among consultants and researchers, followed by a plenary session to summarize the key points and results. Through this process, CPHI sought to build a strong service foundation that is not only supported by scientific expertise and research experience, but also by standardized work processes capable of responding professionally to partners’ needs.

Strengthening the Public Health Survey & Consulting Services Unit is also expected to produce various supporting tools, including service catalogues and packages, standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality assurance mechanisms, reporting formats, project administration documents, as well as the development of partnership networks and prospective service users.

Through this activity, CPHI Udayana University continues to promote the downstream utilization of research outputs and public health expertise into services that can be accessed by government institutions, health facilities, organizations, and other partners. Strengthening the service business unit and innovation utilization ecosystem is expected to support institutional sustainability while expanding the implementation and impact of evidence-based public health innovation.
