RWB Denpasar Research Team Holds the Third Participatory Action Research Meeting to Reflect on Photovoice Findings with Youth

Denpasar, 26 July 2026 – The Relational Wellbeing (RWB) Denpasar Research Team held the Third Participatory Action Research (PAR) Meeting as part of an ongoing research project exploring the relationship between climate change and the relational wellbeing of young people in Denpasar City. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Center for Public Health Innovation (CPHI), Kolaborasi Bumi, and the Master's Program in Environmental Science, Udayana University.

The third meeting focused on the collective reflection and discussion of the Photovoice outputs produced by the participants during the previous stage of the research. As co-researchers, participants presented the photographs they had captured and shared the stories, experiences, and meanings behind each image, illustrating how climate change has shaped their everyday lives and wellbeing.

Through an open and participatory dialogue, participants reflected on the connections between their photographs and their lived experiences, while exchanging perspectives with one another. The discussion encouraged participants to explore how climate change influences their wellbeing across personal, social, and environmental dimensions, consistent with the Relational Wellbeing (RWB) framework.

During the session, the research team served as facilitators, creating a safe and inclusive environment where every participant could express their thoughts and interpretations. Rather than acting solely as respondents, the young people actively interpreted their own data, identified common experiences, and contributed to a deeper understanding of the issues emerging from the Photovoice activity. This collaborative process reflects one of the core principles of Participatory Action Research (PAR), in which knowledge is co-created through dialogue and shared reflection.

The discussion also provided an opportunity to identify emerging themes that will inform the next stage of the research. By collectively examining the photographs and accompanying narratives, participants and researchers began to build a richer understanding of youth experiences with climate change and the factors that shape their relational wellbeing.

Through this third meeting, the RWB Denpasar Research Team reaffirmed its commitment to conducting research that is participatory, inclusive, and action-oriented. The collaboration between the Center for Public Health Innovation (CPHI), Kolaborasi Bumi, and the Master's Program in Environmental Science, Udayana University aims to generate evidence that not only advances scientific knowledge but also empowers young people to become active contributors to climate resilience and community wellbeing.
